Delta Phi
In 1845, Delta Phi became the first fraternity at Rutgers University.
Welcome
Established in 1827 at Union College, Delta Phi is the oldest continuous fraternity in the United States and is founded on three pillars - Friendship, Morality, and Literature.”

Eighteen years after the Delta Phi was founded at Union College Chapter, 12 students formed the Epsilon Chapter at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey on February 1, 1845. These same men participated in the first ever college football game, consolidated the ritual of the National Fraternity, and built the first ever fraternity house in New Jersey.
The original house, which stood at 77 Hamilton Street, was damaged by fire, causing a move to the Johnson Mansion at 21 Union Street (as pictured). Over 175 years later, the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Phi still stands strong today with over 100 members, all committed to academic excellence and brotherhood. We pride ourselves on high standards and being heavily involved in all facets of campus life.
